New Orleans Style Wild Caught Gulf Shrimp Bisque





An easy version of a classic Cajun bisque recipe, which comes from French settlers in Louisiana.This delicious Seafood dish is an authentic Louisiana Soup made with frozen Wild Caught Gulf Shrimp.


Ingredients:


  • 3 Tbsp butter or margarine ​
    1 onion, finely chopped ​
    1 red bell pepper, finely chopped ​
    2 stalks celery, finely chopped ​
    1 clove garlic, minced ​
    Pinch of dry mustard and cayenne pepper ​
    2 tsp paprika ​
    3 Tbsp flour ​
    4 cups fish stock ​
    1 sprig thyme ​
    1 bay leaf ​
    8 oz raw, peeled Wild Caught Gulf Shrimp ​
    Salt and pepper
    Snipped chives

Cooking Instructions:

1. In a saucepan, melt the butter or margarine.  ​​

2. Add the onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic. ​​ Cook gently to soften. ​​

3. Stir in there dry mustard, cayenne pepper, paprika, and flour.
Cook gently to soften the onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic.​ On low heat, cook for about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4. Add the fish stock. Stir until well blended. Put the bay leaf and thyme sprig in the pot, then bring it to a boil.

5. Stir occasionally as the mixture thickens, reduce heat to low. It should take about 5 minutes for the shrimp to turn pink and curl.

    6.  Sprinkle salt and pepper on top. Then, remove the bay leaves.

    7.  Serve with snipped chives.
